Trading on a flute, carrying cheap cotton to a very close port where cotton is expensive, "PIRatEs fROM ThE conFedeRACy" then after i escape or sink those pirates. heres an example from my infinite amount of cases like this: which sucks when u trade from cheap port to expensive. also trading is another way to make profit, i have a marque letter with the british, and i have bad rep amongst the french, dutch, danish and haitans. and production gives u all of that for free. I just hate these, the only way to make money is to go to ur towns like tortuga, sell all those goods they produced throughout the week or month, then do the same with other ports, which is bad cuz ur production is important, ull need wood to repair ur ship, ull need cannonballs to fire from ur ship. I am still doing it and get about 250,000 gold because of this, have fun! its an automatic selling mechanic, so each port gets an average of 10,000 gold per check in after long hours of playing, and having multiple ports with merchant guilds, and switching to them and getting the profits, you can get over 200,000 gold in one go. So the money, after playing for about 3 hours, you can check the map, and go to the port you have the merchant's guild, you will get a new notification that shows, product sales, extra profit, and the total earnings. So click each one of those, exit, and done. Now it shows every sellable item in your warehouse, everything that is in production on the port. And switch to the warehouse, there is gonna be a new icon since you have the merchant's guild, click it. And go to the sell cargo option at the top-left.
Now, for the final step, use the rubies to put merchant guilds on every pirate port you own.
After completing the treasure hunt, you will be awarded 10 rubies. Then after that, either complete daily missions to get rubies or play until you get the pirate campaign mission where you go find treasure at a treasure island on the brazil map.
And then, upgrade every cargo-making building on each pirate port to the max, and the warehouse too.
Collect any ship, tier 1-5, and put one at every pirate port you own.
